Q.01
How did you come to join the company?

After working part-time, I wanted to work here as an employee.
I was working part-time at another company, and just as I had begun to think I wanted a full-time job with a company, a friend suggested I try working at Takane Electric. That is how I came to join. After talking with the company, I started coming in as a part-timer in August 2019. There I experienced the atmosphere and the work. I knew nothing about electricity, but the senior staff taught me very carefully, and the atmosphere was good, so I told my manager I wanted to join. After eight months of part-time work, I became a Takane Electric employee in April 2020.
Q.02
What was your impression after joining?

The senior staff teach me carefully from the very beginning, which is reassuring.
In the office, people spoke to me more than I expected, and it was easy to fit in. When I moved from part-time to full-time, the senior staff began teaching me again, carefully, from the very beginning. What stayed with me was that a senior colleague gave me a book as a present to celebrate my joining. It seems to be the same book that colleague read to pass the Class 2 Electrician exam, and they ordered it online for me. I am now studying with it and checking on site whatever I don’t understand. Once, when I was stuck on a calculation problem, the colleague at the next desk came over and helped me, which was a great help. My first goal is to gain the Class 2 Electrician qualification.
Q.03
What is your current work,
and what do you keep in mind?

I take care of the tools and parts I handle.
On site, I assist with electrical work such as installing dedicated outlets for air conditioners and running spare fibre-optic lines. When running spare lines for fibre-optic cable, I work with particular care, because a spare line that gets kinked becomes useless. I make sure to run it through quickly without kinking it. Many things on site break easily, so I carry them carefully, and I take care of the tools and parts so that the work goes more smoothly.
Q.04
What would you like to take on next,
and what are your goals?

My goal is to become an electrician who can be of real use.
At first I knew nothing about electricity and thought electrical work was much simpler. As I studied and worked, I found it was very complex, and I came to find it interesting. I want to know much more about electricity. My goal is to become an electrician who can be of real use. First I am aiming for the Class 2 Electrician qualification, so that I can soon go out to sites on my own and be useful.
Q.05
A message for
your future colleagues.

I want to work with people who want to improve. It makes the site more enjoyable.
At Takane Electric everyone is serious at work, but in the vans and back at the office they get on well and it is lively and cheerful. I want to create relationships and a workplace where people can be themselves and don’t stiffen up. I also want to work with people who want to improve; a site is more enjoyable with people who are keen. Even with no experience of electricity, like me, if you’re interested, I think you should take the first step.
